Sheswai Lacquers Re-swatch

Had some time on my hands post-midterm so decided to re-swatch the Sheswai polishes that I have.

Sheswai Badass

Sheswai Badass… badass indeed! I think this is the best polish out of the bunch. Badass is a brown that just glows like it’s lit from within. SO pretty. The formula is great too! It’s not too thick or too watery, and it dries quickly. Pictured above is two coats.

Sheswai Fersure - three coats

Sheswai Fersure Р three coats

Sheswai Fersure is a lovely red jelly. It does build in opacity, so I swatched and photographed three different coats. I prefer it with three coats because it is less streaky. It builds up nicely to a gorgeous dark red. I found this formula to be the most different of all Sheswai colors. This one is thicker and requires a very light touch for an even application. It’s not really difficult; you just have to be careful.

Sheswai Perfecto - one coat

Sheswai Perfecto is a really sheer, milky off-white. It’s supposed to be one of those my nails, but better colors, adding just a hint of color to cover up any imperfections. I’m not really a fan of it. I don’t like sheer colors. I don’t think it’s flattering on my nails. And it’s not really self-leveling, so wearing one coat means the color is streaky on your nails.

Sheswai Stoned

Sheswai Stoned is a gorgeous neutral with bits of silver microshimmer to keep it from being a normal creme. I love it! Pictured above is two coats.

Sheswai Totally

Sheswai Totally is a pink-purple creme, and boy, it is gorgeous. I’m super fond of shades like these, so I love this one. Pictured is two coats.

Sheswai Honeyfox

Sheswai Honeyfox is awesome. It’s a bright red, not quite a cherry red. Just a red red. And it’s a jelly. And it’s opaque with one coat (even if you do thin coats like me), with a near flawless formula. Pictured above is one coat.

Sheswai Nice

Sheswai Nice is another gorgeous neutral. I love this one! It’s awesome and gives me the perfect mannequin hands. Pictured above is three very thin coats.

Sheswai Sugarkiss

Sheswai Sugarkiss. I’m not much of a pink person (generally), but this is a fun, bubblegum pink with bits of silver shimmer. It applies a little bit warmer on the nails than the cool-toned color in the bottle. ¬†Pictured above is two coats.

Sheswai What

Sheswai What is a dark taupe-y purple shade. It’s pretty! I don’t know why but it refuses to mix properly on the edge of the bottle, but I can assure you that no green is visible on the nail. Pictured above is two coats.

Sheswai Yowza

Sheswai Yowza! This came out with Badass during Fall 2011, and this shade just glows too. It’s almost electric. It’s a purple red with slightly duochrome-y qualities. Sometimes it’s a darker purple like my index finger. Sometimes it’s more of a purple-red. Pictured above are three coats.

Phew! That’s 10 out of the 14 polishes that Sheswai currently has, and with the exception of Perfecto, I love them all.

The formula tends to be watery and thin with these, so start with caution because if you’re not careful, it will run right down on your nail and pool by your cuticles. Because it is on the thinner side, each polish (except Honeyfox, and maybe Fersure) needs at least two coats for full opacity. All polishes dry with a glossy, high-shine finish without topcoat.

Sheswai Lacquers are available through their website for $16 a bottle (plus $4 flat rate shipping), through Spirit Beauty Lounge for $16 a bottle, or through Anthropologie for $16 a bottle.
