HCQ #5: Andalou Naturals A Force of Nature Lavender Shea Hand Cream

February 7th, 2012 · 1 Comment · Beauty, Reviews

Hand Cream Quest (HCQ) is a journey on which I embark to find the perfect hand cream… not too thick, not too light, not too greasy, not too dry, not too fragranced, and most importantly, incredibly moisturizing! I will judge based on price, packaging, texture, absorbance, scent, the Zoo Factor (a combination of all the above + staying power + working at a zoo), and Acetone Addict (does it moisturize after acetone usage?).

If you feel that a product should be considered for my HCQ, please send me an email at paulina@thegoreprincess.com and I will add it to my to try/to buy list! To view other hand creams on my quest, click here!

Andalou Naturals A Force of Nature Lavender Shea Hand Cream

Price: Andalou Naturals A Force of Nature Lavender Shea Hand Cream costs $8.95 for 3.4 fl. oz from drugstore.com or from Andalou. 100% of the net profits of this hand cream goes to benefit socially responsible projects like the Breast Cancer Fund and Rainforest Action Network. In addition, each order from Andalou’s website is also a $1 donation to an Andalou-supported project of your choice.

Packaging: It is in a standard squeezy tube with a flip off cap that has a hard to break hinge.

Texture & absorbance: I think the texture is a nice medium between Jack Black Industrial Strength Hand Healer and ULTA Citrus Cream. It’s not as gummy as the Jack Black and absorbs easily with only a slight residue to remind you that you just put on hand lotion.

Scent: This is scented with lavender oil, but the smell is not strong after the initial whiff.

Zoo Factor: I am going to preface this with I really like this, but it doesn’t have long term staying power in my opinion. However, if you wash your hands after applying, your hands will still be moisturized, which is awesome.

Acetone Addict: It’s great for hydrating your skin before and after manicures to keep your skin soft!

Buy it again? I would buy it again. Aside from not having long staying power, it’s still a solid hand cream, and each purchase of this goes to help some non-profit organizations. I wouldn’t bring this with me to the zoo, but it’s a good hand cream to keep in your purse or on your desk at work for those moments when your hands need a bit of moisture.
